What is a habit? Habits are regular, repeated, spontaneous behaviours that occur in an individual. These give a sense of satisfaction in one’s subconscious brain which therefore leads to a culture of impulse, a tendency that one settles into.
Habits hold a great influence over a person’s actions. These are what determine the automatic behaviour in a person.
How are habits formed?
These are developed gradually from time-to-time depending on the person and their activities they do on a regular basis. When repeatedly pursuing a goal (even as small as making coffee), people undergo various patterns of regular actions that lead to becoming a habit and therefore a process in attaining one’s desired goal. Daily life is full of such repetition.
Why do we need habits?
Be it good or bad, habits speak a lot about an individual. We do a lot of activities each day. Some knowingly and some without even realising.

• HABITS DETERMINE YOUR PERSONALITY:
The activities you do consciously or subconsciously eventually become a considerable part of your routine. This is what shapes you as a person. These are the activities that you choose to do at a very young age or are inculcated in you and are therefore carried forward.
• GOOD HABITS HELP YOU REACH YOUR GOAL:
Building a habit might feel like a goal itself. However, the tiniest good habits lead to a better lifestyle which eventually leads to a better focus towards your goals. Imagine aspiring to be a marathon runner. It takes years of meticulous preparation to become fit enough to compete in a marathon. Now imagine having set foot into the marathon without training. The first step to reaching any goal is first establishing a daily habit.
• IF YOU HAVE A GOOD HABIT, YOU DON’T NEED MOTIVATION:
All of us go through times when we need motivation to complete various tasks. Maybe we find them boring, exhausting, annoying, time consuming, and so on. This becomes your cue to start developing these activities into habits and you get used to them without having to think.
